Jenny and I go way back to high school shenanigans at Lane Tech. It's interesting how a photograph can be analogous to a trail marker — it shows you where you have been, but you can't really go back. I was behind the camera, looking through the lens, capturing the moment when Liam (Jenny's son) and Alexander (her brother's son) are baptized, and reflecting on our carefree days in high school. Life, once again, astonishes me at the speed in which it happens.

Enjoy these moments. Thank you for letting me be a part of them.

Marwen College Night and Career Day

A few months back, I completed a postcard project for Marwen's College Night and Career Day, the former of which I am very proud of.

Since College Night is all about picking a school that will help build your skills toward your career, I had this idea of Legos that created a person's shadow. However, I wanted to try creating my composition completely outside of Photoshop. Sure I could have just easily done it on Photoshop, but there's just something refreshing about artwork created in the traditional analog manner.

It took me quite a while to lay out all the pieces exactly right, and set the light source exactly right, but when I snapped the picture, I was all smiles.

With Career Day, it's about the possibilities of what you could become. So in videogame terms, Marwen was the secret area where you found all the cool power-ups and level-ups in the game. I wanted to evoke that metaphor by creating 8-bit inspired pieces of different career power-ups.

Jatziry & David's Wedding

It was a hot 8th of July (for me anyway), but a perfect night for a wedding. Under the 6 o'clock shade of the buildings around 8th and Michigan, Jatziry and David were pronounced husband and wife.

A Much Needed Vacation

I am taking a much needed vacation. Right now I'm at Mackinaw City, but tomorrow I'll be headed to Niagara Falls. I did bring my camera, so expect to see some photos soon. In the meantime, I'll leave you all with a bokeh view of Mackinaw Bridge (fun fact: it's the 6th longest suspension bridge in the world!).

Nely & Victor's Wedding

May 25th was a not a typical Chicago day. However, it seemed typical — torrential rain in the morning, fog in the early afternoon and bright sun in the late afternoon. May 25th was a special day. Nely and Victor were starting a new chapter in their lives, marriage. Close friends, family, and the old Buckingham Fountain were witness to this intimate event.

What happens when you put together over 1000 walking pictures from different people and string them together? You get a mind-blowing stop-motion short video. The guys at blipfoto.com did this using a smart method to keep the frames managable. Each frame represents 1/8 of a human step. So, essentially 8 photos make up one step. Take some time to appreciate the work and effort it took to combine all these photos here.
